Philippines sets record with 121 HEIs in THE Impact Rankings

A record-breaking 121 Philippine higher education institutions (HEIs) have been included in the 2025 Times Higher Education Impact Rankings, marking a significant increase from last year's 56.

This achievement places the Philippines ahead of other Southeast Asian countries and behind only India and Pakistan in terms of the number of ranked universities, with Thailand ranking second at 85 and Indonesia third at 76.

The rankings evaluate universities' contributions to the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) across research, stewardship, outreach, and teaching.

Ateneo de Manila University leads Philippine institutions, ranking between 101-200 globally, followed closely by Batangas State University, Isabela State University, and the University of the Philippines in the 401-600 bracket.

While the Philippines excels in representation, Indonesia's Universitas Airlangga achieved the region's highest individual ranking at joint ninth place overall, jumping from joint 81st last year.
