Philippines sends largest delegation, 1,600 athletes, to SEA Games

The Philippines is sending its largest delegation yet to the 33rd Southeast Asian Games in Thailand from December 9-20.

With a team of 1,600 athletes participating in 574 events across 50 sports, this marks a significant increase from the previous edition where only 905 athletes competed.

Philippine Olympic Committee president Abraham Tolentino highlighted that the surge includes participation in non-traditional team sports such as ice hockey and ice skating.

The Philippine Sports Commission chair Patrick Gregorio assured full support for the national team, emphasizing prioritization of training and international exposure requests.

This substantial delegation reflects the government's commitment to boost the country's sporting performance in regional competitions.
