Philippines tops ASEAN in working hour losses due to pandemic

The International Labour Organization (ILO) reported on Friday that the Philippines experienced the highest working hour losses among ASEAN countries in 2020 due to the pandemic.

Philippine lost working hours amounted to 13.6% of total potential hours, compared to an average regional loss of 8.4%. The strictness and duration of lockdown measures were cited as key factors driving these losses.

The hardest-hit sectors in the Philippine job market included retail, tourism, construction, and manufacturing.
