Philippines reports 1,678 new COVID-19 cases

As of Tuesday, July 28, the Philippines recorded a total of 83,673 confirmed COVID-19 cases with 1,678 new infections reported.

The Department of Health (DOH) noted that recoveries increased by 173 to reach 26,617 while deaths rose to 1,947 after four more fatalities were recorded.

Majority of the new cases are from Metro Manila with 698 cases, followed by Laguna with 218 and Cebu with 100.

Active cases now stand at 55,109, with critical care capacity in Metro Manila at 73%, indicating strain on hospitals.

The DOH also reported that 34 duplicate cases were removed from the total count, including two recovered cases.
