Philippines logs 1,944 new COVID-19 cases during Holy Week

The Philippines recorded 1,944 new COVID-19 cases during Holy Week from April 3 to April 9, a 13% increase compared to the previous week.

As of Easter Sunday, 378 cases or 10.2% of total admissions were in severe and critical condition.

The DOH also verified 30 more COVID-related deaths, citing late encoding of death information from as early as September 2020.

On April 6, the national positivity rate increased to 7.1%, according to OCTA Research fellow Guido David.

The DOH advised the public to observe health protocols and get vaccinated during Holy Week activities.
