Philippines eyes 60M doses of Novavax, AstraZeneca vaccines

The Philippines is negotiating to secure approximately 60 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines from Novavax and AstraZeneca for delivery in the second and third quarters of 2021.

Vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. stated that a deal with Novavax could be finalized this month, securing 30 million doses manufactured by the Serum Institute of India.

Galvez also mentioned ongoing talks to procure an additional 20 million doses from AstraZeneca, which may be signed by December 28 or 29 pending UK Ministry of Health Regulatory Authorization.

The Novavax vaccine is currently in clinical trials and its availability will depend on regulatory approvals from the US, UK, or other countries.
