Philippines hosts Asian Lawn Bowls Championships April 27-May 4

The Philippines will host the 16th Asian Lawn Bowls Championships from April 27 to May 4 at the Clark Bowling Greens in Pampanga.

Head coach and tournament director Ronalyn Redima Greenlees expressed confidence that the hosts can defend their gold medals, with Rodel Labayo aiming for a third consecutive gold medal in men's pairs alongside Elmer Abatayo, while Rosita Bradborn defends her title from last year in women's singles.

Eight gold medals will be awarded across singles, pairs, triples, and fours (men and women) with twelve countries participating, including Malaysia, Iran, Brunei, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Macau, South Korea, and China.

Greenlees highlighted that lawn bowls has been part of Philippine sports for over two decades, emphasizing the sport's inclusion in the 2019 Manila SEA Games where the Philippines won one gold, three silver, and two bronze medals.

The coach also noted full support from the Philippine Sports Commission and Clark Development Corporation for hosting this event.
