Philippines detects 890 more Omicron BA.5 cases

The Philippines has detected an additional 890 cases of the Omicron BA.5 subvariant of COVID-19 in all regions except for Soccsksargen and BARMM.

Of these cases, 232 were from NCR, followed by Western Visayas with 252 cases, Calabarzon with 136, and Cordillera Administrative Region with 63. Other regions had fewer cases.

Nine returning overseas Filipinos also tested positive for BA.5.
