Philippines maintains presence at Escoda Shoal despite BRP Teresa Magbanua's departure

The Philippines will maintain a continuous presence at Escoda Shoal in the West Philippine Sea, according to National Security Adviser Eduardo Año.

Despite the departure of BRP Teresa Magbanua due to weather conditions and other issues, combined assets from both the Philippine Coast Guard and the Armed Forces of the Philippines have been deployed as replacements.

The Philippine Coast Guard confirmed on Sunday that no adverse situation has occurred at Escoda Shoal following the deployment of a new patrol mission there, though details about these assets remain undisclosed.

Chinese vessels continue to loiter near Escoda Shoal, with eight additional Chinese maritime militia ships leaving Panganiban Reef and sailing towards the area.

The Philippines remains committed to strategic transparency while keeping operational details confidential to avoid attracting unwanted attention or interference from China.
