PSEi falls as stricter curfew dampens investor sentiment

The Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) closed lower on Wednesday due to concerns over stricter curfew measures in Metro Manila despite the region returning to a less restrictive general community quarantine.

Property stocks were particularly affected as investors anticipated that the extended curfew would limit store hours at shopping malls, dampening sentiment.

Chris Mangun from AAA Equities noted that the government's announcement of a unified curfew from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. in Metro Manila was more restrictive than previous measures and led to profit-taking by investors.
