Philippine Open badminton tournament offers PHP1M prize pool, July 7-12

Over 500 players are expected to compete in the Philippine Open, scheduled from July 7-12 at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.

Organized by the Philippine Badminton Association (PBAD), the tournament offers a PHP1 million prize pool and is classified as a BWF Tour Super 1000 event.

Players aiming to join the national team are encouraged to participate in this annual competition, which provides crucial points for local rankings.

Last year's winners included Jewel Angelo Albo in men's singles, Mika de Guzman in women's singles, Lea Inlayo and Nicole Albo in women's doubles, Ariel Magnaye and Christian Bernardo in men's doubles, and the duo of Christian Bernardo and Alyssa Leonardo in mixed doubles.

PBAD secretary-general Carla Lizardo-Sulit emphasized the tournament's importance as a stepping stone for players aspiring to represent the Philippines at future Olympic Games.
