PlaySafe Alliance formed to combat illegal gambling

Licensed online betting operators in the Philippines have formed the PlaySafe Alliance of the Philippines to combat illegal gambling and promote responsible gaming.

The alliance, which was formally signed into agreement during an initialing ceremony at Ascott Bonifacio Global City in Taguig, includes nineteen licensed gaming firms committed to regulatory compliance, consumer protection, and combating illegal gambling.

Members aim to collaborate with PAGCOR to enhance industry oversight, implement robust KYC processes, and launch public awareness campaigns on safer gambling practices.

The group emphasizes that the real threat lies in unlicensed online gambling markets, which account for 70% of the market, while only 30% is legal and licensed.

In response to calls for stricter regulation or a ban on online gambling, the PlaySafe Alliance vows to push for initiatives to help deter illegal operators and strengthen responsible gaming measures.

The alliance's interim council includes companies like DigiPlus Interactive Corp., World Platinum Technologies Inc., Trojans Well Entertainment Corp., Gavin Ventures Inc., Playmate Leisure Solutions Corp., Stotsenberg Leisure Park & Hotel Corp., Jade Entertainment and Gaming Technologies Inc., Meta Interactive Software Solutions Inc., and Enigma Software Solutions Inc.
