Lawmakers seek deferment of PhilHealth contribution hike

Lawmakers at the House of Representatives have filed a joint resolution to defer the planned increase in PhilHealth contribution rates for 2021 due to the economic impacts of the pandemic.

Over 50 lawmakers from different parties support the resolution, citing the pandemic as a 'fortuitous event' that justifies suspending premium rate contributions.

Anakalusugan party-list Representative Mike Defensor called for a six-month reprieve for PhilHealth members from paying higher premiums, noting that even private preneed companies are delaying payments due to the pandemic.
