DOLE arranges chartered flights for stranded OFWs

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) announced three chartered flights to repatriate stranded overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) from the Middle East next week and early August.

The first flight on July 26 will bring about 350 OFWs back from Oman, with additional flights scheduled for August 5 and August 10.

DOLE is coordinating with the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) to arrange these chartered flights.

The government aims to repatriate approximately 6,000 OFWs stranded in eight countries including India, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Oman, UAE, and Indonesia due to travel restrictions related to the Delta variant.
