Philippines Reports Over 2,200 New COVID-19 Cases; Total Confirmed Cases Exceed 226K

The Department of Health (DOH) reported 2,218 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, September 2, bringing the total number of cases to 226,440.

Active cases now stand at 62,655 with 91.3% being mild, 6.3% asymptomatic, 1% severe, and 1.4% critical.

The majority of new cases were reported in Metro Manila (1,824), followed by Laguna (223), Cavite (184), Rizal (161), and Batangas (116).

Additionally, the DOH recorded 464 recoveries and 39 deaths on Tuesday, September 1, increasing total recoveries to 158,012 and fatalities to 3,597.
