PGH records lowest number of COVID patients in a year

The Philippine General Hospital (PGH) recorded its lowest number of COVID-19 patients in more than a year with only 54 confirmed cases as of Friday.

Dr. Jonas del Rosario, PGH spokesperson, attributed the decline to herd immunity achieved in Metro Manila after at least 50% of the eligible population was fully vaccinated.

PGH now occupies only 15% of its 350 dedicated beds for confirmed cases and has closed three out of four COVID-19 wards, opening them up for non-COVID patients.
