Filipino boxers Petecio, Marcial optimistic for 2028 Olympics

Filipino boxers Nesthy Petecio and Eumir Marcial are optimistic that boxing will be included in the 2028 Olympics program despite uncertainties surrounding their sport.

Petecio, a two-time Olympic medalist, believes there is strong support for boxing's inclusion from many countries including the Philippines and expresses her desire to see more Filipina women involved in combat sports.

Marcial, who won a bronze medal in Tokyo 2021 and lost early in Paris 2024, sees the Olympics as his ultimate dream and hopes boxing will remain on the program.

Both boxers are continuing their training but with different focuses - Petecio is concentrating on recovery and power while Marcial is prioritizing his professional career for now.
