PDEA arrests PHP3.4M shabu peddler in Marawi

Authorities arrested an alleged big-time drug peddler and seized PHP3.4 million worth of shabu during a buy-bust operation in Marawi City on Tuesday.

The suspect, Arham Hadji Omar Alim, 25, from Maguing town in Lanao del Sur, was identified by Regional Director Gil Cesario Castro of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PDEA-BARMM).

During the operation at 7 a.m., PDEA operatives seized five large sachets containing 500 grams of shabu and also confiscated Alim's vehicle, believed to be used for drug trafficking.

Military and police personnel had been monitoring Alim’s movements in the Lanao area for two weeks prior to his arrest.

In a separate incident on Monday, two suspected drug peddlers were shot dead during another buy-bust operation in Tawi-Tawi after they opened fire on law enforcement officers.

Currently detained at the PDEA-BARMM detention facility in Cotabato City, Alim faces charges under RA 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
