ES Bersamin orders courtesy resignations in PCO

Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin ordered all undersecretaries, assistant secretaries, and directors in the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) to submit their courtesy resignations by February 28, 2025.

The directive aims to give new PCO Secretary Jay Ruiz a 'free hand' in carrying out his duties and implementing policies, as confirmed by Bersamin.

Ruiz took office on Monday after being sworn in by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., replacing Cesar Chavez who resigned on February 5.

According to Ruiz, the order is part of the usual process for agency transitions and not personal, allowing him to choose his own team.

The directive also aims to address issues such as leakages of official documents and internal intrigues within the PCO.
