PCI established to promote sport climbing

Pilipinas Climbing Inc. (PCI), led by Atty. Al Agra, has been established to promote climbing as a competitive sport in the Philippines.

The PCI is recognized by the International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFCP) and aims to secure regular membership with the Philippine Olympic Committee and the Philippine Sports Commission.

A team representing the Philippines will compete in the ASEAN Sport Climbing Championships from July 4 to 6 in Putrajaya, Malaysia, featuring regional athletes in lead, boulder, and speed disciplines.

PCI chairman Franz Lim expressed confidence in becoming world-class in sport climbing, emphasizing inclusivity for Para athletes and sustainability through government support.

The Filipino climbers will also participate in a boot camp in Singapore next month before the Southeast Asian Games in Thailand's December event.
