PCG rescues nine fishermen from half-submerged vessel in West Philippine Sea

On Tuesday night, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) rescued nine fishermen from a half-submerged fishing vessel in the West Philippine Sea near Dasol, Pangasinan.

The distressed F/B Rickmar 1 made a distress call to nearby boats on April 15, which was reported to the PCG Pangasinan station.

BRP Cabra received initial information about the troubled boat and reached the site with assistance from F/B Trinidad by 11:18 p.m. on Tuesday.

The two vessels met in the sea off Colibra Island to safely transfer the rescued crew members, who were then transported to shore by PCG aluminum boat 135 on Wednesday morning.

Upon arrival, the fishermen received initial medical attention from the Rural Health Unit (RHU) of Infanta before being handed over to their families.

The rescue operation was coordinated between BRP Cabra and F/B Trinidad, ensuring the safety and well-being of the distressed crew members.
