PBA board meets to pick new Gilas coach for SEA Games

The PBA board is set to meet to determine who will coach Gilas Pilipinas in the upcoming Southeast Asian Games.

STAR/Philstar.com sources suggest that Norman Black, currently the head of the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas Grassroots Program Player Identification and Development, could be named as the team's head coach in December.

Black previously coached Sinag Pilipinas to a gold medal at the 2011 SEA Games and has won numerous titles in both the PBA and UAAP.

Tim Cone, the current Gilas head coach, expressed uncertainty about participating if the team does not consist of his current players, who may be joined by KBL and Japan B.League standouts.

The Southeast Asian Games will take place in December in Thailand, coinciding with PBA Season 50, while Gilas is scheduled to compete in the FIBA Asia Cup from August 5-17.
