Bomb joke on Cebu Pacific flight leads to security alert

A passenger aboard Cebu Pacific flight 5J617 made a bomb joke upon landing at Bohol-Panglao International Airport on Saturday morning, leading to an immediate security inspection.

The two passengers who made the joke were placed in police custody for further investigation after a flight attendant overheard their remark.

Upon receiving information from tower personnel, the CAAP Security and Intelligence Service promptly responded to assess the situation.

By 12:43 pm, authorities confirmed that there was no explosive threat on board the aircraft, and all passengers and crew were declared safe with operations resuming without further incident.

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines reminded the public that making bomb jokes is a serious offense under Presidential Decree No. 1727, which can result in imprisonment for up to five years or a fine of P40,000.

Passengers are urged to be cautious with their statements to ensure the safety and security of all travelers.
