Tarlac mayor seeks protection over death threats

Former Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo sought assistance from Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos over alleged death threats she claims to have faced.

Abalos revealed during a press conference on Friday morning that Guo fled Indonesia due to fears for her life after expressing concerns about death threats and requested the best protection in exchange for revealing information to the Senate and court.

Despite skepticism from PAOCC spokesperson Winston Casio, who questioned Guo's credibility and suggested she might be exaggerating her claims out of depression or other personal issues, government officials are investigating her allegations.

Guo is currently under PNP custody at Camp Crame and is expected to appear before Tarlac court on Friday morning if she does not post bail. The Philippine National Police (PNP) is also conducting a threat assessment for Guo's case due to its high profile nature.

PAOCC spokesperson Winston Casio said the government will look into her claim of facing death threats, but he questioned those who reportedly facilitated her escape from the Philippines, including Warren Wu and Xiang Dian.
