PAO moves for release of over 1k detainees during ECQ

The Public Attorney's Office (PAO) reported that it moved for the release of over 1,300 detainees and provided legal assistance to thousands during the enhanced community quarantine.

From March 16 to April 23, PAO represented 1,244 individuals in court and served as counsel in inquest proceedings for 9,214 persons.

PAO also rendered non-judicial services such as giving legal advice, administering oaths, and providing legal opinions for over 30,000 people.

Among those who received PAO's assistance were three patients detained at hospitals due to unpaid bills; the hospitals discharged them after PAO intervened.
