Palace: Dutertes Senate run not linked to ICC probe

Malacaōang stated that President Rodrigo Duterte's decision to run for senator in 2022 has nothing to do with the International Criminal Court (ICC) probe into alleged crimes against humanity linked to his anti-drug campaign.

Acting Presidential Spokesperson Karlo Nograles said Duterte wants to continue serving the public beyond his term as president, which ends next June.

Critics like Gabriela party-list Rep. Arlene Brosas claim Duterte's senatorial bid is an attempt to evade prosecution over his drug war.

Nograles emphasized that Duterte has no intention of evading prosecution and stressed the improvements made during his presidency.
