Palace dismisses Duterte's gold reserves claim as baseless

On Monday, Palace press officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro dismissed former President Rodrigo Duterte's allegations regarding the government's sale of gold reserves as 'baseless' and a continuation of his campaign-style jokes.

Castro questioned whether Duterte consulted economic experts before making such serious accusations about the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) and urged him to provide concrete evidence.

The BSP manages the country's gold reserves following established protocols designed to strengthen financial stability, and Castro challenged Duterte to present data supporting his claims.

During a campaign rally in Cebu on Saturday, Duterte also criticized the Marcos administration for drug problems resurfacing in Davao City, among other issues.

Castro questioned Mayor Baste Duterte's leadership in Davao City and called for evidence to back up the former president's claims.
