Palace challenges Magalong to prove GAA funds used for elections

Malacañang challenged Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong to substantiate his claim that funds under the 2025 General Appropriations Act (GAA) are being used as election funds.

Palace Press Officer Claire Castro urged Magalong to present evidence supporting his allegations, stating it would be better if he had concrete proof when speaking about these issues.

Castro warned against making vague accusations that could harm the reputation of innocent officials and said the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) would coordinate with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to verify claims.

Magalong also expressed concern over death threats following his allegations, but Castro urged him to identify the source of these threats for proper investigation.

Castro clarified that financial assistance from the DSWD is available to anyone with valid needs and not limited to politicians, while funds distributed through the agency come from its own resources.
