PAL launches Cebu-Catarman route, aims to boost tourism and economy

Philippine Airlines launched its maiden Cebu-Catarman flight on Tuesday, March 4, with plans to further grow its network in the region.

The inaugural PR 2653 flight departed from Cebu at 9:50 a.m. and arrived in Catarman at 10:50 a.m., while the return flight PR 2654 left Catarman at 11:16 a.m. and landed back in Cebu at 12:08 p.m.

PAL Regional Head Leonard Bryan Sansolis highlighted Northern Samar as an alternative tourist destination with its natural attractions and rich culture, while Vice Governor Clarence Dato thanked PAL for facilitating easier access to the region.

Governor Edwin Ongchuan had previously met with PAL officials to request additional flights to support tourism and local economic growth in the province.

PAL Express President Rabbi Vincent Ang emphasized that the new route aims to boost tourism, facilitate business transactions, and stimulate economic development in Northern Samar, adding that it complements their direct Manila-Catarman service.
