PAGCOR supports SCBPO expansion, job creation

The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Special Class Business Process Outsourcing (SCBPO) companies, which contribute significantly to job creation in the country.

Despite a government crackdown on gaming licensees, PAGCOR chairman Alejandro Tengco assured foreign chambers of commerce that SCBPOs will continue to expand their operations and support legitimate gaming companies overseas.

Tengco highlighted that SCBPOs are licensed by PAGCOR to ensure they do not engage directly in gaming operations like taking or soliciting bets, focusing instead on providing essential services such as human resources, marketing, graphic design, accounting, and back-office work.

Currently, the SCBPO sector employs nearly 5,000 local workers with plans to further expand both their operations and hiring of Filipino staff due to foreign investors' recognition of Filipino talent.

SCBPOs are required to hire Filipinos for at least 95% of their workforce, offering high-quality job opportunities with above-industry salaries.

PAGCOR remains dedicated to the industry's growth and its potential to create more employment opportunities for Filipinos.
