PAGASA warns 15 areas at heat danger level on Sunday

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) predicted on Thursday that 37 areas across the country would experience a heat index in the danger level range of 42°C to 46°C on Friday.

On Friday, PAGASA reported that 23 areas had already experienced a dangerous heat index ranging from 42°C to 51°C, with temperatures expected to rise further on Saturday in 16 specific regions.

According to the latest update on Saturday, fifteen areas are forecasted to experience a heat index at the danger level of 42°C to 44°C on Sunday.

These areas include Laoag City and Aparri in Cagayan, Bacnotan in La Union, Sinait in Ilocos Sur, Maasin in Southern Leyte, Dipolog in Zamboanga del Norte, Cotabato City in Maguindanao, Dagupan City in Pangasinan, MMSU in Batac, Ilocos Norte, Iba in Zambales, Puerto Princesa City in Palawan, and Catbalogan and Borongan in Samar.

PAGASA categorizes areas with a heat index between 42°C and 51°C as being in the danger level, where heat cramps and exhaustion are likely, and heat stroke is possible with prolonged exposure.

The weather bureau advises residents to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activities, and wear fresh clothes to prevent heat-related illnesses.
