4 Luzon dams release water due to heavy rain

Four major dams in Luzon have opened gates and released water due to heavy rainfall caused by successive weather disturbances and the enhanced Southwest Monsoon (Habagat).

As of Sunday morning, Ambuklao Dam in Benguet had two gates open at 0.6 meters with its reservoir water level decreasing from 751.78 meters on Saturday to 751.51 meters.

Binga Dam also in Benguet saw one gate open at 0.5 meters, with its water level dropping from 574.67 meters to 573.91 meters, both still close to their normal high-water levels.

Magat Dam between Ifugao and Isabela had one gate open at 2.0 meters, with its reservoir water level decreasing slightly from 186.43 meters on Saturday to 186.12 meters.

PAGASA hydrologist Sonia Serrano assured that the released water from Ambuklao and Binga Dams will flow into San Roque Dam, which is currently not open due to its normal water levels, reducing concerns of flooding in affected barangays.
