Michael Pacquiao files COC for councilor post

Michael Stephen Pacquiao, 22-year-old son of Senator Manny Pacquiao, has filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) to run as councilor in General Santos City on Saturday, October 5.

He will contest under the People's Champ Movement and aims to focus on education, youth empowerment, and sustainable development.

In an interview with GMA Regional TV's One Mindanao, Michael cited his father's inspiration but emphasized that he is making his own decision regarding his political aspirations.

Manny Pacquiao and his wife Jinky accompanied Michael during the filing of his COC.

The elder Pacquiao is running for reelection as part of President Ferdinand Marcos' senatorial slate under the Alyansa Para Sa Bagong Pilipinas, alongside Mayor Lorelie Pacquiao, who is seeking re-election in General Santos City.

Before entering politics, Michael was involved in hip-hop and rap music, which initially surprised his parents but gave him a sense of personal fulfillment.
