Late Wednesday evening, P272 million worth of 'shabu' was seized and a suspect identified as 'Ronald' was arrested during a buy-bust operation in Rizal Cement Village, Bgy Pantok, Binangonan, Rizal.

Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Director-General Isagani Nerez reported that the estimated weight of the confiscated shabu is around 40 kilograms and it was packed in 40 black gold foil wrappers labeled as 'freeze-dried durian' in Chinese characters.

Joint operatives from PDEA Intelligence Service, PDEA Regional Office-NCR Regional Special Enforcement Team 2, PDEA Regional Office IV-A Rizal Provincial Office, and the Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Unit (PNP-PDEU) Rizal carried out the arrest following intense surveillance on Ronald.

Ronald will face charges under Section 5 (Sale of Illegal Drugs) and Section 11 (Possession of Illegal Drugs) of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

According to PDEA spokesperson Atty. Joseph Frederick Calulut, Ronald is a wholesaler who distributes suspected shabu in Rizal and Metro Manila from Pasig but operates out of Binangonan.

PDEA Director General Undersecretary Isagani Nerez commended the law enforcement units involved in the operation and vowed to carry out more operations to disrupt the illegal drug supply chain.
