Duterte wants probe into overpriced COVID-19 test kits

President Duterte has called for an investigation into reports of overpriced COVID-19 test kits being paid by PhilHealth.

PhilHealth president Ricardo Morales defended the initial high price tag of P8,150 per test kit, citing limited supply and high demand in March.

Following criticism from Senator Franklin Drilon, PhilHealth has lowered its testing rate to P4,210 from P8,150.

Morales explained that private organizations like the Philippine Red Cross were able to offer lower prices due to bulk purchasing and donations.
