Bising death toll rises to two; thousands evacuated

As Typhoon Bising (Surigae) continues to affect the eastern part of Luzon and Visayas, the death toll has risen to two with one person missing.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported that 20,620 individuals are currently in evacuation centers while an additional 159,978 people were preemptively evacuated across Bicol, Caraga, and Visayas regions.

In Central and Eastern Visayas, two fatalities occurred with one person injured. Additionally, 42,155 families or 159,978 individuals were evacuated in these areas due to the typhoon.

Floods affected 56 barangays in Eastern Visayas, damaging two seawalls, a port, and a tower base in Caraga Region, along with two houses in Bicol and Caraga regions. Six road sections and a bridge became impassable in Bicol and Eastern Visayas due to the storm.

Over 68,000 people were evacuated from their homes in Bicol and Eastern Visayas, with around 150 houses flooded in Eastern Samar and 147 evacuees reported in Buhi, Camarines Sur.
