OSG to file quo warranto vs suspended Bamban mayor by month-end

The Office of the Solicitor General (OSG) plans to file a quo warranto petition against suspended Bamban, Tarlac mayor Alice Guo by the end of July.

Solicitor General Menardo Guevarra said new evidence from the Senate investigation into an illegal POGO operation in Bamban is being incorporated to strengthen their case, causing delays but aiming for a filing this month.

Comelec chairperson George Erwin Garcia announced that his team will visit Bamban on Thursday, July 25, to gather documents such as fingerprints and signatures from election records for their evidence.

Guo's Filipino citizenship remains under scrutiny after Sen. Risa Hontiveros pointed out inconsistencies in her birth registration during a Senate inquiry.

The OSG previously stated they would file a quo warranto case after confirming Guo has the same fingerprints as Chinese passport holder Guo Hua Ping, and Comelec findings will support their petition.
