Oscar Orbos named acting PTV GM after Nebrida's resignation

Former Executive Secretary Oscar Orbos has been named acting General Manager of the People's Television Network (PTV) following complaints from PTV staff about current General Manager Antonio 'Toby' Nebrida Jr., whose courtesy resignation was accepted by Malacañang on Tuesday.

Jay Ruiz, Acting Presidential Communications Office Secretary, confirmed during a Palace press briefing that Orbos will replace Nebrida and noted that he agreed to serve temporarily after discussions on Saturday.

Ruiz assured a smooth leadership transition at PTV as the papers for Orbos' appointment are being processed.

Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin has issued a memorandum directing all presidential appointees in agencies, offices, and bureaus under the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) to submit their unqualified courtesy resignations to allow Ruiz a 'free hand' in carrying out his duties.

Orbos previously held high-ranking positions including Transportation and Communications Secretary and Executive Secretary under President Corazon Aquino, and also served as a congressman and governor of Pangasinan.
