Ortega: VP’s impeachment not a distraction

La Union 1st District Rep. Paolo Ortega V dismissed Davao City Mayor Sebastian Duterte’s claims that Vice President Sara Duterte's impeachment is merely a distraction created by the administration to overshadow issues surrounding the 2025 national budget.

Ortega emphasized during a press briefing on Monday that the House of Representatives’ impeachment proceedings against the vice president have been conducted transparently, contrasting them with what he called 'theatrics and distractions.'

Bataan 1st District Rep. Geraldine Roman noted earlier that the House committee on appropriations has addressed concerns regarding blank allocations in the General Appropriations Bill (GAB).

Roman highlighted that Vice President Duterte's impeachment grounds preceded budget issues, which are now before the Supreme Court.

Ortega underscored that public inquiries and hearings have already taken place regarding allegations against Vice President Duterte, highlighting the transparency of the process compared to unsubstantiated claims by the Duterte camp.
