Olivarez College wins UCAL-PGFLEX Season 7, breaks four-year runner-up streak

Olivarez College secured a thrilling 79-74 victory over Philippine Christian University-Dasmarinas to win the University and Colleges Athletic League-PGFLEX Season 7 on Thursday, April 10.

Allen Vergara made a crucial three-point shot with 16.1 seconds left in the game, giving Olivarez College a 78-74 lead and sealing their victory.

Vergara's heroics were not limited to scoring; he also secured an important defensive rebound on Philippine Christian University-Dasmarinas' final possession.

Olivarez College head coach Myk Saguiguit celebrated the end of his team's four-year runner-up streak, saying it was like finally marrying someone he had been courting for seven seasons.

Panelo was named Finals Most Valuable Player after scoring 20 points and grabbing 12 rebounds in addition to four steals during the championship game.

Hakim Njiasse contributed a double-double with 21 points and 19 rebounds, while Rodel Renon added another double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds for Olivarez College.
