Octa Research urges stricter lockdown if 'NCR Plus' fails

Experts from Octa Research are urging the government to consider stricter quarantine measures if the 'NCR Plus' travel bubble does not reduce COVID-19 transmissions in the next couple of weeks.

Dr. Guido David, an OCTA research fellow, noted that the current reproduction number is around 1.9 and needs to slow down within one to two weeks for the bubble setup to be effective.

David also pointed out that it took 28 days last year to bring down the reproduction number during a surge in cases, making it unlikely to achieve a reduction to 1 within just two weeks.
