Misinfo circulates: VP Duterte has higher trust/performance ratings than Pres Marcos; debunked

A claim circulating on social media suggests that Vice President Sara Duterte received higher trust and performance ratings than President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., based on data from Octa Research as of February 10.

However, Octa Research has not released any such ratings since January 14, and their latest published data pertains to senatorial preferences from January 25 to 31.

The research firm's previous survey conducted between November 10 and 16 in 2024 showed Marcos with a higher trust rating of 65% and performance rating of 64%, compared to Duterte’s 49% trust and 48% performance ratings.

This misinformation is circulating amid the ongoing impeachment case against Duterte, initiated by the House of Representatives on February 5 for alleged misuse of confidential funds and threats against Marcos and his wife.

Senate President Chiz Escudero stated that the impeachment trial will likely commence after the State of the Nation Address in July, as the Senate is currently on break due to midterm election campaigns.
