Israeli Amb meets OCD, discusses disaster tech collaboration

Israeli Ambassador Ilan Fluss met with Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Undersecretary Ariel Nepomuceno on Saturday, Feb. 21, to discuss enhancing disaster preparedness through collaboration.

Ambassador Fluss highlighted Israel's expertise in disaster management and readiness to assist during calamities, emphasizing valuable lessons for the Philippines.

Discussions focused on capacity building and technological assistance in areas such as water purification, urban resilience, and addressing Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) threats.

Undersecretary Nepomuceno acknowledged Israel's leadership in disaster management and expressed excitement about potential collaboration to bolster community resilience against CBRN threats.

The partnership aims to explore opportunities for demonstrations of advanced Israeli products and technologies to improve disaster response capabilities, particularly focusing on food and water purification and smart city solutions.

Both parties agreed on the importance of technological assistance in enhancing urban resilience and improving disaster preparedness efforts.

The meeting established a commitment to ongoing partnerships between Israel and the Philippines to tackle shared challenges and strengthen community resilience.
