OCD issues blue alert for May 12 elections

The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) urged Filipinos to stay vigilant as preparations for the May 12 midterm elections intensify.

A 'blue alert' will be in effect from May 11 to 14, with relevant agencies coordinating through the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Operations Center (NDRRMOC).

Undersecretary Ariel Nepomuceno emphasized the importance of cooperation among candidates, voters, and stakeholders for a peaceful and safe election.

Duty officers from the Armed Forces, Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine Coast Guard, and Philippine National Police will be on standby at NDRRMC to respond to issues during this period.

OCD regional offices and disaster management centers will monitor election-related incidents and work with authorities to promote a culture of preparedness and resilience.

The public is encouraged to stay alert and cooperate with law enforcement and disaster response teams, as all agencies involved will continue monitoring activities through the NDRRMC dashboard.
