OCD issues blue alert for new low-pressure area, 11,300 families affected

The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) announced that the country remains under blue alert status due to a new low-pressure area inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility, which could bring additional rainfall.

Families in Mindanao and Luzon continue to be affected by Tropical Storm Isang and the southwest monsoon, with 11,300 families impacted by flooding.

Pre-disaster risk assessments are underway to anticipate needs in affected communities, while relief goods such as food, clothing, hygiene kits, and medicines have been prepositioned nationwide.

In Bicol, evacuees have returned home following coordinated efforts between the OCD, regional disaster councils, and local government units, but vigilance is advised due to potential further development of the low-pressure area.

Authorities are monitoring ports in Sorsogon and other areas for increased travel movement as residents prepare to return to Manila and classes resume.
