EJ Obiena finishes third at Athletissima Lausanne

EJ Obiena demonstrated his commitment to securing an Olympic medal by finishing tied for third place at the Athletissima Lausanne Wanda Diamond League in Switzerland on Wednesday night.

Obiena achieved a jump of 5.82 meters, matching Norwegian Sondre Guttormsen and Australian Kurtis Marschall, just weeks after the Paris Games.

Swedish athlete Armand Duplantis won gold with a jump of 6.15 meters, followed by American Sam Kendricks who took silver at 5.92 meters, repeating their positions from the Paris Olympics.

Obiena's performance highlights his goal to achieve success in the 2028 Los Angeles Games after narrowly missing out on medals in Tokyo (2021) and Paris this year where he finished fourth.

With determination, Obiena aims to secure a podium finish in Los Angeles following near-misses in previous Olympic editions.
