EJ Obiena returns home briefly before leaving for upcoming competitions

Filipino pole vaulter EJ Obiena returned home briefly after competing in the Paris Olympics but left Manila within a day to prepare for upcoming competitions.

Obiena participated in several homecoming events, including a reception at Malacañang Palace and visits to his alma mater where he met fellow countrymen.

The athlete reflected on what he called the 'golden era of Philippine sports,' highlighting recent successes like Hidilyn Diaz's gold medal and Carlos Yulo's achievements.

Despite missing the heroes' welcoming parade due to upcoming competitions, Obiena expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and support during his brief stay in Manila.

Currently back in Formia, Italy, Obiena plans to compete in the Lausanne Diamond League on August 21 and aims to continue training for future Olympic games.
