NSA Año remains in position despite health concerns, President Marcos supports

National Security Adviser Eduardo Año will continue in his position under the Marcos administration despite ongoing health issues, Malacañang announced on Tuesday.

Palace Press Officer Claire Castro stated during a press briefing that President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. supports Año's decision to stay on as he feels capable of contributing effectively.

Castro added that the President believes Año can continue performing his duties well and may remain in office for as long as his health permits, emphasizing it is part of an ongoing performance review rather than a Cabinet revamp.

Año thanked the President for his trust and confidence and assured him of his commitment to delivering results despite his health concerns since the start of the pandemic.

The clarification comes amid a series of leadership changes in the Marcos administration, including recent replacements in key Cabinet positions described by officials as a strategic 'recalibration.'
