Military kills NPA insurgent 'Dar' in Agusan del Sur clash

A New People's Army (NPA) insurgent identified as 'Dar' was killed in a 30-minute clash with military forces in Barangay Magsaysay, Prosperidad town, Agusan del Sur on Tuesday, March 4.

The casualty is a member of the NPA Sub-Regional Sentro de Gravidad Southland-Northeastern Mindanao Regional Committee.

Military operations were initiated based on reports from local residents about disruptive activities by the NPA, including extortion.

During the encounter, authorities seized an M16 Armalite rifle, one AR18 rifle, backpacks, a bandolier, and subversive documents left at the site.

The remains of Dar were handed over to the local government for proper disposition.

Following the clash, military personnel conducted dialogues and distributed informational materials in nearby barangays to reassure residents about their safety.

Col. Emil Cruz renewed a call on remaining NPA rebels to surrender and reintegrate into society.
