NorthPort ends 5-year losing streak, wins vs Barangay Ginebra

NorthPort secured a significant victory against Barangay Ginebra on Wednesday in the PBA Season 49 Commissioner's Cup, ending a five-year losing streak and improving to a league-best 7-1 record.

Key plays from Arvin Tolentino and Joshua Munzon helped NorthPort regain control late in the game, securing their win with a buzzer-beating triple by Munzon that put them ahead 117-109 entering the final minute.

Despite leading by as much as 18 points early on, NorthPort faced a comeback attempt from Barangay Ginebra before pulling away for an 119-116 victory.

Munzon emphasized his team's focus on taking each game one at a time and not looking too far ahead, citing upcoming back-to-back challenges against Meralco and Rain or Shine in the coming week.

With four games left in the elimination round, NorthPort faces tough matches including back-to-back games before concluding their schedule on January 25th.

Despite the win, attention remains on team governor Erick Arejola’s involvement in a brawl during an NBTC qualifier match.
